I came across the Indisposable concept via Instagram. The experience of using a disposable camera has always been somewhat anxiety filled because of the one chance only factor, but that’s the beauty of film. Not being able to see these photos made me that much more appreciative of the craft that photography and professionals endure. Film photography as opposed to digital is completely undervalued. Although disposables don’t use as much of a technical skill and are used to produce memories, it’s a skill in it’s own right.

Practicing on disposables gives one more knowledge of the importance of the photo being taken, the lighting, the specific brand of disposable and where it works best. My favorite photo on this roll from the week I was in Belize is the young boys inside of the airport. I knew that my camera wasn’t good for shooting indoors, but the lighting through the window makes the photo what it is. The boys were playing around the airport and without knowledge of whether they were flying or waiting for someone, they looked outside yearningly.

After being in Central America for a week on vacation, the beauty of being outside became much more prevalent. Once arriving I believed that they lived with lack of resources, and became sad for them as anyone would. In contrast with the rest of my week, I was seeing the light of happiness everyone had with bare necessities or lack there of. In turn, this made me that much more appreciative for things like film in such a digital world we’re all consumed by. Capturing moments that are raw and unfiltered is unparalleled to an iPhone or DSLR. The selfie I had my sister take of me is in the hammock, which felt appropriate to the care free Caribbean lifestyle.

I was pleased with the development even though some photos came out underexposed, I captured the entirety of Belize. I wouldn’t mind these photos being entered anywhere for any contest or reason at all.
