Hello, my name is Jordyn Carll and I live in Edgewood, Maryland. Yeah I know you have never heard of it, it’s a small town with nothing to do but dream and anticipate the day you finally leave. This is my second roll I have submitted to you guys, if you remember my first roll was given to me by my teacher (@ehs_photo on Instagram). My first roll of film was shot in less than 10 days and I was super proud of the results. Then when I decided to buy a second roll: life happened.

I spent three long months using up one roll of film. I had went to New York, Pennsylvania, and ALL over the state of Maryland in that time. There are photos on this roll all from those locations.

A few of the photos on here capture the lonely yet busy life of Edgewood. The main reason I took such a long time taking these photos was because my life was falling apart at the end of the school year- my junior year of high school. But my teacher, Ms. Hulme (@ehs_photo), is the only one who believed in me. The only teacher that truly cared about me. She doesn’t know how amazing she is.

The woman holding the cupcake in front of her face is Ms. Hulme. I snapped this picture on the very last day of my Junior year, and it means a lot more to me than it probably does to her. That last day of school was like lifting the world off of my shoulders. She contributed so much to that feeling. She has pushed me to be a better, open-minded photographer, student, and person.

I am asking you, if you would- to post that picture of her on Instagram and tag her in it. It would be a nice surprise, since she most likely forgot about that photo. You posting that photo will also show her that I haven’t given up, I am still putting my photos out there- and she knows I would have never found your company if it wasn’t for her.

I know life gets hard. That is why you must capture the best parts of it- and I will continue to shoot it using a disposable camera.
