Q+A

1.) How did you find the experience of using the disposable camera? Enjoyable or painful?
I loved it.

2.) How did it make you feel not being able to see the photos as they were taken and not being able to edit or know what the photos turned out like?
A breath of the freshest air.

3.) From your roll of film what was your fave image and why?
Probably of the view.

4.) Would you be interested in shooting another roll?
I found myself being overly cautious about what I was choosing to photograph. I really wanted to specific parts of my own world and had certain places in mind before I began shooting. I tried hard to only take one shot a day and planned certain places out, but that did not feel as natural to me. I’m a bad planner. Sometimes the camera went off in my backpack and I got some blanks. I also shot one scene twice because I thought the first shot did not come out without turning on the disposable camera’s built in flash. And my selfie did not come out. I am going to do this again? Hell yea! Multiple times and in different ways. I see this roll as a prototype.

5.) Is there anything else we could include or introduce to make the experience more interesting?
Looking through the images now, I realized a majority of them are of trains, view outside the train window, or before leaving a place to board a train. I’m a 23 year old New Yorker and do not drive. Part of my every day experience is being in transit, the people I encounter, and the place the train(s) has brought me to.

6.) Did you enjoy the aspect of shooting a selfie?
If only it came out. Not sure why it didn’t other than I shot it facing a mirror. MySpace flashback…….

7.) What did you think of the outcomes when you saw the final photos?
I didn’t think I’d realize and fluidity in them, but eventually I realized the train theme.

8.) Would you approach the concept differently if you had another go?
I definitely would. I wouldn’t plan a thing. Other than the selfie coming out.

9.) Would you enter into the concept if it was set up in a competition format with prizes to be won?
Sure, why not?

10.) Would you like to see your photos presented in a gallery exhibition environment.
That would be incredible.

11.) Is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
This really made me think. A lot. Good thinking though!
