1.) How did you find the experience of using the disposable camera? + 2.) How did it make you feel not being able to see the photos as they were taken and not being able to edit or know what the photos turned out like?
My first experience of shooting with a disposable was painful. Having to wait out until the roll was finished to get it developed was torturous. I found I could finish a whole roll within a day, or an event and it was takin a serious dent on my pocket money jar. That was when I was 14, I’m now 19 and admittedly addicted to shooting on disposables. I love the way you can shoot a photo and there is no deleting it, no ‘head in the phone straight away editing it’, no I messaging it to a friend, no gramming it, facebooking it. It is what it is and although it may be weeks until I get to see it, it just adds to the massive pile of things in life to look forward to.
3.) From your roll of film what was your fave image and why?
My favourite photo from the first roll is number 17, a photo of my best friend and travel partner Ashleigh. It’s bright, clear, blue and her face sums up how stoked we were to finally reach the top of an island cliff in Cambodia. From the second roll my favourite photo is number 16 Ash sitting on our hostel bunk with her 25 cent beer, absolutely stoked. The last roll my favourite is photo number 12, i have no idea how this happened but the photo has been double exposed and merged two shots together of my friend Claire on a swing. Kinda creepy but so cool!
4.) Would you be interested in shooting another roll?
Always.
5.) Is there anything else we could include or introduce to make the experience more interesting?
It’s pretty rocking as it is but adding all types of film cameras could open it up a bit possibly.
6.) Did you enjoy the aspect of shooting a selfle?
A selfie is an essential on any roll.
7.) What did you think of the outcomes when you saw the final photos?
These are my favourite 3 rolls I have shot over the past few years so I’m pretty happy with them. It’s always the ones you have no expectations for that turn out the best.
8.) Would you approach the concept differently if you had another go?
I’d love to shoot underwater film next.
9.) Would you enter into the concept if it was set up in a competition format with prizes to be won?
Everyone loves prizes, it’s a fact. But I think the way you’ve set it up to be a vision of someones world wouldn’t work as a competition. The nature of the concept is so personal I don’t know how it would be at to be judged?
10.) Would you like to see your photos presented in a gallery exhibition environment?
Hell yeah.
10.) Anything else you’d like to add?
Attached are 3 rolls of film. It shows my recent travels to Cambodia and Thailand in the first 2 rolls and the second was a weekend trip down the south of Western Australia. I love to photograph all that I’m grateful for and nothing makes me smile more then being able to have hard copies of the craziest times of my life so far and being able to share them with others. Wow.. I’m way too passionate about this. I’ve been following your concept for a while now and have only just had the chance to send a few rolls through. But I was seriously stoked when I found a whole community of people who shared the same passion as me. Thanks !
