Q+A with Hafizah

1.) How did you find the experience of using the disposable camera? Enjoyable or painful?
I thought using the disposable camera was pretty fun! I got quite a lot of looks from people and some even asking me why I was using one instead of my phone or a digital camera, haha.

2.) How did it make you feel not being able to see the photos as they were taken and not being able to edit or know what the photos turned out like?
I liked the idea of not being able to see the shots! It got me pretty excited to see how it would turn out.

3.) From your roll of film what was your fave image and why?
Definitely 11/20 (the one of the pink cherry blossoms?), probably because it’s one of the shots that wasn’t covered by my finger (lol!).

4.) Would you be interested in shooting another roll?
For sure! I feel the need to take a whole roll of photos without my finger blocking about half of them! Well, also because the whole process of photo taking on a disposable camera was pretty fun for me.

5.) Is there anything else we could include or introduce to make the experience more interesting?
Not that I can think of!

6.) Did you enjoy the aspect of shooting a selfie?
I loved it! Thought it was a great idea to make people sort of introduce themselves to the rest of the indicon community!

7.) What did you think of the outcomes when you saw the final photos?
I felt a bit disappointed, mainly because most of the shots were either too dark or partially blocked. But the rest turned out great and that was a pleasant surprise! (I do like suprises!)

8.) Would you approach the concept differently if you had another go?
I think I might have a theme to follow when shooting another roll.

9.) Would you enter into the concept if it was set up in a competition format with prizes to be won?
Definitely! However, I think that I did feel much more comfortable participating in this project knowing that it wasn’t a competition. That way I wouldn’t be too worried about having to take ‘the perfect photo”.

10.) Would you like to see your photos presented in a gallery exhibition environment.
Yes!

11. Is there anything else you would like to share with us?
Well, my friend back in Singapore told me about indicon. I just love how people from around the world are participating in it! I thought this was a great idea to get people to try shooting with film! Great job you guys 🙂
