Q+A with Emmy

1.) How did you find the experience of using the disposable camera? Enjoyable or painful?
I loved using a disposable camera. I have a few medium format and 35mm point and shoot numbers so I was pretty comfortable with the whole thing.

2.) How did it make you feel not being able to see the photos as they were taken and not being able to edit or know what the photos turned out like?
I really like not knowing what I’m going to get and kind of forgetting about what I’ve taken a photo of. The anticipation of waiting  reminds me of being a little girl again!

3.) From your roll of film what was your fave image and why?
My favourite image was the one of the market. I’ve been trying to capture this digitally for ages for another project I’m doing and just hated every image. It’s come out beautifully on film so I need to try & recreate this with my DSLR!

4.) Would you be interested in shooting another roll?
Absolutely! My camera was on special offer- buy one get one free- so I have another one waiting to be used.

5.) Is there anything else we could include or introduce to make the experience more interesting?
I don’t think so. I thought the process was interesting enough.

6.) Did you enjoy the aspect of shooting a selfie?
Nope! I hate having my photo taken and I also always manage to cut off part of my face, so I set the shot up for a friend to take.

7.) What did you think of the outcomes when you saw the final photos?
I was pretty happy and pleasantly surprised. I didn’t realise I spent so much time in parks!

8.) Would you approach the concept differently if you had another go?
I think I would try and take some more shots of stuff around my house and maybe random objects lying about opposed to taking more scenic shots.

9.) Would you enter into the concept if it was set up in a competition format with prizes to be won?
I’m not competitive in the slightest so I think I’d be less enthusiastic about it but would probably still do it just because it sounded so fun. I think I’d enjoy it equally but might feel a bit inadequate comparing myself to others!

10.) Would you like to see your photos presented in a gallery exhibition environment.
Why not! It’s interesting to see other people’s lives caught in single images. Everyone’s are so different, I think it’d be intriguing to see my images amongst others.

11.) Is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
Just that this was a lot of fun and I’m really glad that I wasn’t lazy about it & actually did it. Thanks for a great experience!
