Q+A with Grace

1.) How did you find the experience of using the disposable camera? Enjoyable or painful?
I enjoyed using the disposable a lot. I am a fan of film and was surprised at the interesting effects and qualities of the camera provided.

2.) How did it make you feel not being able to see the photos as they were taken and not being able to edit or know what the photos turned out like?
It was hard to be sure that the photo would turn out, but I liked that lack of control. I think they provide a very honest view of life, because you can’t edit or delete.

3.) From your roll of film what was your fave image and why?
Hmmm, probably the one of my dog running. She was so excited and the way the photo overlapped represented the moment perfectly.

4.) Would you be interested in shooting another roll?
Yes, I would like to get creative and plan better. Maybe have a theme or use coloured filters.

5.) Is there anything else we could include or introduce to make the experience more interesting?
I wouldn’t, I liked the freedom and simplicity. I think it was not intimidating in any way.

6.) Did you enjoy the aspect of shooting a selfie?
I was ambivalent at first because of the negative preconceptions (slutty, fake)
But it was good because its like saying hello and introducing yourself.

7.) What did you think of the outcomes when you saw the final photos?
I was disappointed i couldn’t get all 24. I think there was two or three nice ones. There was so much i wanted to capture and not enough film!

8.) Would you approach the concept differently if you had another go?
Maybe, i liked the casualness of it. I might play around with themes a bit.

9.) Would you enter into the concept if it was set up in a competition format with prizes to be won?

10.) Would you like to see your photos presented in a gallery exhibition environment.

11.) Is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
