Meet Laura Puskas

We call it the #ICMEETSERIES and thought it would be interesting to find out a bit more about the people behind the disposables. We asked a few IC contributors to tell us a bit about themselves and this is what we got in return…

IC MEET SERIES – Q+A with…

Laura Puskas – I am properly from Texas, currently residing in the mighty west: Colorado
INSTAGRAM

Who are you?
THE Dr.Lpeezzy @ your service, government name: Laura Puskas.

What do you do for a crust?
I work at a school portrait photography studio as a badass (duh).

Can you tell us about your creative background?
I’d describe my creative process as dancing with harmony.. I’m always looking for the most beautiful solution and energetic alignment.

What inspires you to shoot film?
Obviously, the new cool is to be different in then lies the problem. In trying to be different you become the “same”. Let’s just say as a child I liked vegetables.

How did you come to connect with Indisposable Concept?
Why the awesome social platform of Instagram of course.

Do you remember what was in the first roll of film you shot for IC?
Oh gosh, I could cheat and go look on the website but honestly it’s been ages and I’ve proudly shot SO many!

What is your fav photo that you’ve shot for IC? Tell us a bit about it.
I would have to say a photo I took in the dessert, it’s used on many of the footers for emails IC sends out (or it could be just the emails I receive). I was actually in Vegas with my family on a trip, we had all planned an outing outside of the strip. Everyone in my family ended up getting some bug that was going around the hotel EXCEPT for me ! Here I find myself in quite the lonesome limo and naturally I am directing the driver to various photo opps all while hanging out of the sunroof just snapping away with my disposable. Quite the feeling.

It seems film photography and disposables are making a comeback, why do you think that is?
Well, I’m no fortune teller, however my take on why, is the younger generation and the curiosity. Where do all of the apps get the ideas for filters ? Where do the filters originally stem from ? FILM ! I know many universities are re building their dark rooms and that is a huge forth telling.

If someone destroyed all the disposable cameras in the world and you had the very last one, what would you capture?
I would capture photos for history of course, what the sunrise looked like that day, what we would eat for breakfast in this day in age . . . things as such.

What does 2016 hold for you?
I’m not one to plan, as soon as you make plans life tends to hastily point and laugh. If I had to say what 2016 felt like, I would simply use the word change.

Explain your style/approach when shooting a roll.
I’ve had to remind myself to be patient when shooting a roll; the age of instant gratification has influenced me. I would consider myself more of a documentary photographer cause for most rolls I shoot whatever is going on in my life that day, week or month.

How would you describe your photographic style?
Figure, Landscape centralized.. capitalized on natural light.

Where do you find inspiration?
Lately, Wes Anderson films and the great outdoors.

Fave place to shoot?
The woods, the beach, the city, anywhere outside!
