Hi there! I really love what you guys are doing – it’s completely opened up a whole new world to me, and for that I would like to say thanks! 1.) How did you find the experience of using the disposable camera?
It was very much a love-hate relationship; sometimes I loved not knowing whether a photo would look good or even come out at all, but it does also mean that a lot of moments get lost. Overall I really enjoyed it, though.
2.) How did it make you feel not being able to see the photos as they were taken and not being able to edit or know what the photos turned out like?
At first it bothered me, but you learn to just let it be and go with the flow. It makes the process more exciting, and the photos that do work mean more.
3.) From your roll of film what was your fave image and why?
On this roll I would have to say that my favorite photo is probably the photograph of my three friends sitting in the bath in front of the mirror. It was actually really light in the room, but for some reason it’s come out quite dark, which makes it look all eerie and romantic.
4.) Would you be interested in shooting another roll?
I have already shot another roll, and will be sending it in for developing asap! (And you can be sure there will be more to come).
5.) Is there anything else we could include or introduce to make the experience more interesting?
I think the project is fine just as it is – one of the best things about it is how open to interpretation it is.
6.) Did you enjoy the aspect of shooting a selfle?
To be completely honest I didn’t shoot a selfie. I am in a few of the photos, but I just directed others to take them.
7.) What did you think of the outcomes when you saw the final photos?
At first I was obviously upset about the photos which came out blank, but I was pretty happy with the ones that worked! There were quite a few mistakes and surprises, but most of them were actually quite nice.
8.) Would you approach the concept differently if you had another go?
I don’t think I would approach the concept differently, but I have learnt a lot about the disposable’s sensitivity to light and the effect of the flash etc. (This roll was definitely a learning curve).
9.) Would you enter into the concept if it was set up in a competition format with prizes to be won?
Yes I would.
10.) Would you like to see your photos presented in a gallery exhibition environment.
I can’t think of anything I would love more!
