Q+A with Vern

1.) How did you find the experience of using the disposable camera? Enjoyable or painful?
I had a blast this week toting around the disposable.

2.) How did it make you feel not being able to see the photos as they were taken and not being able to edit or know what the photos turned out like?
The element of surprise…can’t beat it. I used to do this sort of thing each time I would fly back to Chicago. My friend and I would head out for a night on the town and snap the night away. The following year, yes year, I’d develop the pictures.

3.) From your roll of film what was your fave image and why?
I’m loving the one of the two tents set up with the sun streaming through the trees making all sorts of rainbows. Perfectly captures how it felt to wake up on that hill all alone that morning.

4.) Would you be interested in shooting another roll?
For sure!

5.) Is there anything else we could include or introduce to make the experience more interesting?
A theme? A color? A certain time of day? Or free reign is always good too.

6.) Did you enjoy the aspect of shooting a selfie?
Shooting a selfie without being able to see the end result right away is a bit torturous, but I made a deal with myself that whatever it looked like, I’d submit it anyway. Who really cares after all, right? We are our own worst critics.

7.) What did you think of the outcomes when you saw the final photos?
So pleased.

8.) Would you approach the concept differently if you had another go?
Not sure I would.

9.) Would you enter into the concept if it was set up in a competition format with prizes to be won?
Sure, I’ve got nothing to lose…well, I guess a prize, but I’d give it a go for the fun of it.

10.) Would you like to see your photos presented in a gallery exhibition environment.
That would be cool!

11. Is there anything else you would like to share with us?
Saw this project at the perfect time and happened to have a disposable at home waiting to be used. This week captured moments of our move from the Chicago, IL area to our new home where we’re planning on putting down some roots, Boise, Idaho.
